Founded in 1856, La Savonnerie du fer à cheval is the oldest soap factory in Marseille still producing genuine Marseille soap and black soap. After more than 160 years of experience, Fer à Cheval Savonnerie consolidates the method of making and saponifying Marseille soap in a cauldron according to the true "Marseillaise" method. It was in the 19th century, in the city of Marseille, that hundreds of small factories produced soap, Marseille's flagship product.
